Linux Nfs For Mac

When I try to go though the GUI (finder->connect to server->nfs://kurush/media/lynk->connect), I get an immediate failure (unable to connect &c) and the linux box syslog records the authenticated mount request.

Both computers are able to access the internet through the network, but neither will connect to one another. The linux server shows 2 sftp instances of the Mac in it's network folder, but says "Unable to mount location: Failed to retrieve share list from server" when I try to open one, and will open the other and view files shared from my Mac. The Mac Pro shows nothing at all in it's network folder.Ian Bobinac

Linux Nfs For Mac

I have a swtich that connects the linux server and the mac client. My wireless internet router I also patch into the switch so I can get internet to the two computers. The Mac client typically gets internet via wifi, but I tested the internet connection through the ethernet and it works.

I am exceedingly confused if my physical network is even set up right... With only the two computers connected to the switch (I disconnecting my internet router) the Linux machine can connect to the Mac through sftp. But I still can't get the Mac to connect to the linux machine at all.

I have tried all the hints here and none work to connect my imac to my linux nfs server. I even downloaded and installed NFS Manager software. This program sees the NFS mounts requested in disk utility, but none of them work. I can use NFS successfully to connect my Sun workstation, and two other linux boxes to the NFS server. I can even get a PC to do the NFS mounts correctly (windoze 7). I tried command K, disk utility, manual mounts, and NFS manager. Any suggestions?

I'm sure you are going to be able to categorise them into:1. Well actually, you can do X with incantation Y2. Your needs are invalid/you are holding it wrong3. It's not linux, it's GNU/Linux4. Ubuntu can't do X tho

Fun to read your thoughts on this (-: I just returned a macbook air 9,1 brcause of its thermal behavior - supposedly in the first place. the truth is, i was good with the fact that macos is darwin and freebsd, and i would prefer it ten times over windows, but gnu/linux (my flavour: ubuntu with gnome classic panel on the bottom) is the real sophisticated enviroment, if you ask me! not that there are simple things in workflow, which are as a fact more intelligent (why cant i switch the menus in macos to the windows of the respectively app window? if they stay in the top panel, the way to go with the mouse is - as a matter of fact - ineffeciently farer!) And for sure i am missing a bottom panel, with a workspace indicator which shows me on a quick glance what virtual desktops contain open processes plus give me a quick control over all opened processes on that desktop (and no, the dock which indicates open processes/running apps with a dot behind them, is not alternative here.) so, long story short, i think macos is very smart, beautifull and for the most useres far better then windows. but it is not gnu/linux, it can not even touch it. a shame though, because the hardware design is fantastic. the only way i'd buy a macbook pro now, would be that i cant contribute the few groups which are trying to get gnu/linus on that machine. Best regards and have a great time, me (-:

A fair list. I've used a macbook for the past 10 years (alongside windows, now nixos linux gaming pc), and I can have found my own solutions to one or two of them.Window snapping: BetterSnapTool (paid but cheap)Mouse button rebinding: BetterTouchTool (free) - though maybe not pure left click.Still, it has the touchpad which works better than anything else. Generally scrolling works without clicking on a window, but yeah...best of both worlds is to have multiple machines.

Great article! Built a solution to this problem that runs your local containers on remote linux machines: getporter.dev - I would love your honest thoughts on how this compares to your experience with Mutagen.

My debian etch box is a file server amongst other things and generally Iuse NFS to mount its directories on other linux boxes, and as per anearlier post I also mount these directories on the MacMini. 2ff7e9595c
